today was my cousin's singapore leg of wedding. woke up early, didn't manage to sleep at all because of the "lovely" mosie bites i suffered from studying in school on friday. gah. i even had mosie bites on my neck and eyelid. grrrrrr.
anyway, so we went over to my cousin's house to wait for him to arrive with his bride. hung around, chit-chatted, watched tv.... i think my cousin arrived around 10.45am? around there. welcomed him, took photos, first time seeing the bride. wow! pretty! well-matched, i say. surprisingly, she's shorter than him too! haha~ ahem.
after everything (which wasn't very long), they left to sentosa. and my family and uncle and aunt went for lunch. dim sum! yummies! went home, was so tired i concussed on my bed for some zzzz, BUT my mum was talking so loudly i ended up spending more time wishing she would just shut up than i did sleeping. soon, i had to wake up and shower and get ready for the dinner.
at 4.40p.m., we left the house for sentosa. reached there, walked around, took some photos while waiting for the solemnization to start. the weather was fine when we arrived, wasn't so fine before the ceremony, became fine again a few minutes before the ceremony begin, and started drizzling when the ceremony begun. -_-" and it became heavier, and since we were sitting at the front row, we didn't have any shelter. the solemnization was done as quickly as possible, before we headed inside for the cocktail reception while my cousin and his bride finished signing the marriage certificate.
after some mingling and more photo-taking sessions, we headed up to the ballroom for the wedding dinner. started at 7.30p.m. (shall leave the unhappy topic of a certain occupant at our table for another entry). the food was good! much much MUCH better than the food-tasting i had at ritz carlton hotel. well, sentosa spa resort (something like that) seems pretty classy and pricey too, though i still love the ladies at ritz. er... out of topic. haha~
anyway, it was a 9-course dinner, weirdly enough. my distant cousin, kaiying, and i concluded that the dessert consisting of strawberry pudding and wedding cake equaled to 2 courses, so it was essentially a 10-course dinner. wahaha~ the dinner was really formal and quiet. kaiying was remarking to me that people had to whisper to one another! haha~ yah, so far, the wedding dinners i've been to in singapore seem to be a rather solemn affair. anyway, even the food was served to individuals, rather than the usual place in center of table and self-service kind. and i was full halfway through dinner! haha~
i LOVE the evening dress of the bride's! ah! so nice! ah! but i'm fat, so i can't wear it. haha~ too bad, ym. i should never get married. will be the ugliest-looking bride ever! hehe~
anyway, so dinner was quite funny at our table, despite it being rather solemn. kaiying and I kept whispering to each other about various observations we made. and i was telling her that my cousin had better warn his bride about how rowdy and vastly different malaysia wedding dinners are. not only will it be noisy, it wouldn't be as organized, nor as smooth-flowing (latecomers, DUH), nor as solemn. people will tease the newly-weds, make them smooch for eons, play various games, etc etc. it'll be oodles of fun, if one can take it. being the high-class, rich bride she is, and seeing how her family had organized this singapore wedding, i hope the way the malaysia wedding dinner goes won't upset them. her mum looks really strict and no-nonsense. the bride is really friendly though! all smiles, so pretty! my cousin is really lucky. haha~
oooh! and there was this gorgeous harp! and a harpist! ahh! and the harpist is so talented! she's real good! ahhhh!!!! such a pretty harp. i like harps, i think they're really special. and i think harpists are a unique breed of instrument players (brain suddenly forgotten the appropriate term)!
ooooooh! and and and, we had this really cute 'salt and pepper' shaker as thank you gifts! each person recieved a box. and salt and pepper shaker is designed such that it is a couple hugging each other. the pink one being the girl, the white being the guy. sooooo cute! really! i took piccies of it! shall upload next time. but oh! so cute!!! *plays with them now* must have cost a bomb.
we also took home the flowers from the dinner. since my cousin says we can grab them, we did. took a bowl (?) of flowers from the er stands lining the walkway, and one more for my aunt. haha~ damn heavy can. my arms wanted to break while i was carrying one of the bowls.
ok, im going to study! er, yah. haha~ first paper on monday, aieeee!
