*Spoilers: You've been warned*
Adam Lambert didn't win. Somewhere in my heart, I was prepared for it, considering that the last hour of voting most of my calls were getting through and Gizmo wasn't hanging for each call that went in. The first hour, only 5 got through before it crashed and kicked me out for 2 hours after that. Beh. Basically, Adam's fans weren't voting hard enough.
But you know what? After watching last night's finale performances, I am honestly glad that Adam wasn't crowned American Idol. Why? Simply put, if he was American Idol, there is no way that he'd be able to do the records he really wants to do, i.e. glam rock. Watch his youtube performances. The true Adam is someone who loves glam rock and is not afraid to flaunt his flamboyant self. He somewhat tamed that side for AI, but I bet that when he was performing with KISS he wished he could put on all those makeup and costumes too. (An aside: I LOVED his performance with KISS. OMG, can so picture Adam doing just that in the future!!!) Even if he was to do a record that isn't glam rock, I don't think AI will let him put out one that is musical theater-ish, which, you know, is Adam's other niche. AI's records that Adam will be forced to put out would be, to quote Yalan, some "pop bubblegum shit".
Then again, my dad was right when he said Kris would have wider appeal to America. Simply put, he's straight and happily married, christian, shy and humble, has a good voice and is an artiste. That Gokey's christian votes would end up with Kris is no surprise really. As much as I hate to say this, in the end it all boils down to that doesn't it: it isn't just about the voice and artistry per se, it is the whole package. The thing that appealed Adam to me -- his honesty, the fact that he's not afraid to show the world that he's gay, loves glam rock, loves theatre and loves putting on big performances -- is bound to turn people away.
On the other hand, BOO that Kris now has to do records that AI approves. Makes me wish Gokey won it in the end, just so to save them both from having to give up their artistry for making records that suit AI and appeal to the general public.
And OMG, the Kradam duet!!! *melts* AHHHHHHHHHHH so wrong so wrong so wrong but they're just so cute together AHHHHHHHHH. And Kris' shocked face and the only thing he could say after the result was Adam's name was damn hilarious lah. Haha.
I am going to put up Adam and Kradam photos and gifs after I wake up. Hur hur hur. Time to go back to sleep. :p Hey, I couldn't sleep okay. Was too excited about the results!
The hairdresser taught me a method to blowdry my hair so that I can style it and get used to the new parting and all. I was trying it out and everything went well and all until....
THE BLOODY COMB GOT STUCK IN MY HAIR
Yes. Ouch. Damn pain. And I spent the remainder of the night walking around with the bulk of my hair tied into a side ponytail and the stuck hair and comb hanging off my other shoulder while I tried my best to free it.
Ended up cutting off a small bunch that couldn't be freed and throwing away said stuck bunch and comb.
Sigh.
There goes my 100 bucks. :( And right after I decided to finally give my hair treatment too.
Argh. My family found it vastly amusing. :(:(:(:(:(

Ah yes, the customary this-is-how-I-look-now photo. Haha. I cut my hair yesterday but I didn't think of taking the photo until this morning. But anyway, this is how it naturally looks like without all the frills. According to my friends who saw me yesterday, I look very different. Do I? Apparently, I'm supposed to be looking more feminine with this hairstyle. Hmmm...
Here's another pic:

LOL. Okay, feeling vain with all those photos now. HAHAHA.
In other news, OMG ADAM MADE IT TO THE FINALS! HOORAH!!! So glad that my votes counted, hur hur. icall still doesn't work for me though. Boo. But we got our Kradam final! yay!!! hehehe....
Won't be missing next week's AI for the world! :D:D:D
First things first: I am -unofficially- a graduate. The graduation ceremony is not until July, but as of May 7th 2009, I have -presumably- finished my last Literature exam at NUS and am hereby done with almost 23 years of student life (assuming that from the time you were born you start learning, not just book learning but being socialised. OMG, psychoanalysis, anyone?). Until I actually get the funds to do a Masters degree in Journalism/Mass Comm overseas, I am leaving the glorious life a student behind.
How depressing.
After all, being students and studying our arses off are what we've been taught to do for the entire of our lives so far. Now, all those skills picked up for "mugging", procrastination, "crapping" etc. are rendered useless! O life, what do we do now?!
The next half of our lives will be spent busily working. Farewell youth; it was fun while it lasted. I am so not looking forward to the next phase of life, but move on we must.

I cannot stress this enough: I absolutely ABHOR MLM, financial planners, insurance agents etc. etc. These people have zero sense of shame and the word 'No' (in its various permutations and intonations) does not exist in their dictionary. I've been repeatedly harassed by these people over the past few days and it is not in the least bit funny. I am annoyed.
To make matters worse, these people have started quoting knowledge of my name and number thanks to the introduction/referral by certain friends. Now, my dear friends, if they know me well enough, know better than to bother me with such things because 1. they are number 1 on my list of hates, 2. you're just wasting yours and my time because there is no way that I'll ever be interested in them, period. If I were interested in something, I'd take the initiative to do my research and approach you for advice, not you coming to me and forcing me to take your "advice". I have better things to do with my time.
That said, I am going to meet one such person over lunch tomorrow simply because said person has 1. quoted a friend's name and I have no idea who that friend is 'cos I know too many Alvins, and 2. person has been persistent, repeatedly calling me for (re)scheduling of appointment and wouldn't leave me alone until I agree to a meet-up and so 3. I figured I'd just go meet and "listen" to what person has to say (don't blame me if look highly uninterested. I did warn you -repeatedly- that I am NOT interested in the least bit) so that person will finally stop harassing me. Nothing like a pissed off face to scare a person off right? Yes, I think so too. And I do need lunch anyway, so at least I'll be filling my stomach at the same time. Time is not entirely wasted.
BUT I REALLY DO HATE HAVING SUCH THINGS SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT. I will not hesitate to terminate my friendship with 'friends' who unabashedly do such things to me. Especially if the "friends" are people I have not been in touch with for a long time and only come to me to use me. Such people I can live without.
With that note, adieu student life.
