today marks the 1st time im spending my cny eve n 1st part of cny in singapore!!! haha~ cos there's no more air tix to penang , so i can only go back on chu yi, aft. hehe~ so quite wierd to b counting down here, in my living room, watching channel 8 n chatting w franz online!!! heh~ usually i'll b in penang, playing w fireworks until wee hrs in the morning! haha~ so quiet here... not used to it. hehe~ looking forward to playing fireworks tmr!!! hehe~ (or later today) haha~

was feeling really disappointed with myself for not being able to survive last night's training. gave into my nauseousness when there was only 5 mins left to training session, as a result, made shermaine upset and had to do 50 hayasuburis as punishment. that i couldnt overcome my weakness was bad, that this failure to do so made others around me affected was worse. so my morale was down. until a senior talked to me today, on msn. want to thank estee for giving me advice and being able to empathise. now, i have a new kendo diet, courtesy of estee! 50 suburis a day, mainly shomen-uchis, big and very very very slow ones. as i am doing, to consider the following: am i too tense? am i using my left hand or too much right hand? is my left hand stretching out? if i swing my shinai, and if i let it go, will it fly in a straight line? am i using my whole body's momentum or just using my upper body? do i feel like i'm pushing off with my left foot? currently, my kendo is weak. no tenouchi, too much right hand, no fumikomi. at least my footwork seems to have improved, i hope. heh... have to work towards better kendo! "qiang, zheng, mei", i.e. "strong, correct, beautiful"

movies watched this week: memoirs of a geisha and fearless. i am officially broke. memoirs was alright, now tt i think abt it, it wasnt really that great, over-hyped i guess. fearless, which i watched w some og mates today, was better, i felt. much more touching, closer to the heart, more emotionally-heartfelt, involves the audience more. geisha was more of at a distance, one doesnt really understand or feel for the character, ie sayuri. so i felt fearless was better. not to say that geisha was bad, it still is a beautiful film in it's own way, just that i preferred fearless. and the wushu scenes, simply beautiful.

going back to m'sia for chinese new year this sunday, will only be back next sunday. but my lappy will b going along with me, so i will b able to wreck havoc here still... wahaha~ but in case i dont get to update till some time later, here's wishing all a HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!! gong xi fa cai everyone!




two major highlights! the 8th Singapore Kendo Youth Tournament and BSB's Never Gone Tour! hehe~ and a hungry yuen mei. :P

okies, 1st, had the kendo youth tourney on sunday. was in school the entire day the day before the prep the place up, at the same time, got to interact more with ppl in the kai, esp the seniors, and learnt a lot of stuff from them. yepz. sunday, woke up really really early *grouchy yuenmei* to go to sch. spent another day in school for the tournament. was in sch at 7am, tourney started at ard 8am, mine were round robin, 3rd and 4th matches, lost one, drew the other, said sayounara and went to officiating duties. haha. and so i was a court official right till the end, which was at 5plus. o_O but it was pretty good experience, kept me busy anyway. hehe~ really proud of my seniors and the junior guys team and yick siew!!!! haha~ siew represented the junior gals in the team event, and she did pretty well i heard. sadly i didnt get to watch her match cos i was in the other court, officiating. sighz.... kitt did pretty good too, stunned the opponent by winning her. heh~ and the junior guys team, really really happy for them, they did us proud as well. and wenhao, who got a DOU point off nabil!!! who is a powerhouse and hard to beat. much less get a point off. much less a junior getting a point off of him. and more so a dou point! we were stunned. haha~ and the seniors, they won silver and bronze for both the ladies and men's team! cools! and jeremy once more won third in the men's individual category. yay!!! and we did a great job running the tourney as well, really happy for all of us! i also have new kendo idols: daphne and stella from SKC. so cool man their matches. it's like, when they play, they look so darn cool, u wish u were like them. and ya well, those 2 were champs in everything cat(ladies). and my fav kiai? that of my sempai, derrick dong, who goes," san...." in response to his opponent's high, "HYAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!" -_-" *leng* you've got to listen to it to really know how leng his kiai is. and so, tourney ended at 5 plus, cleared up, took loads of pics with believe it or not, the ugly banner!!! haha~ so surprised, me n kitt were jumping up and down when ppl started taking pics w our banner. haha~ left sch at 7pm. stoned. haha~

and today's highlight(or ytd's) is the BSB NEVER GONE CONCERT in Singapore Indoor Stadium!!!! went w jie xin and her 2 friends, shujun and malee(sp??). it is a GREAT concert, had so much fun singing and screaming my head off i think i pissed the gal beside me and stunned my fran. haha~ not used to the crazy me i guess... hehe~ now im voiceless. haha~ but it was a great experience, and they REALLY CAN SING!!! *SWOON* and they kept it simple, which was really great and nice, cos they interacted more with the crowd and the atmosphere was juz really laid-back and chill.yeah! BSB, COME BACK TO SG AGAINS!!! *dun think they'll read this though* really admire them, for having been together for 13 long years!!! it's tough for any band, much less a BOYBAND,to be together for so long, and yet they have, and still counting. and still making wonderfully great music. and being so down-to-earth. and charimistic. and i can go on forever. haha~ anw, those who chose not to go cos they dun think it's worth it, i can only say u miss one hell of a great show! i didnt want it to end, and when it did, it felt like it was short(even though it's been 2 hours), and i could juz sit there forever, listening to them sing. really. so exciting to be there with them watching them perform, i only wish i could be down there in front of the stage shaking their hands and going all out wild!!! haha~ yeah... so i didnt regret it, i had fun, and im in love with them all over again. it's been 10years (and counting), and im still a happy, loyal, bsb fan! hehe~ I LOVE BSB!!! end of story. muahaha~

and tt abt it. gonna watch memoirs of a geisha with chee min later. gonna zzzz soon. but first, FOOD!!! for hungry ym. *yums* chaoz!!!

i am in love with hillary swank! i think she's just so talented! it's a pity then that hollywood doesnt really recognise her potential just because she ain't as pretty as the other actresses in tinseltown. but still, she is really talented! i guess it's a good thing she isn't widely accepted as the conventional artiste, cos her taste in films are definitely far from the usual flare of movies which grace our cinemas today. she was great in million dollar baby, such that i nearly cried at the end when she chose to end her life. it was so good that one of my guy friends who caught the show with me wanted to watch it again! surprise surprise... since i had to force him to watch the show rather than some other stupid show. hehehe~ and today, i caught iron jawed angels on hbo. hillary swank acted as alice paul, a young activist in america fighting for women's right to vote along with a few other women. such a brilliant film, showing the ugly past of america as the president then refused to accept that there is more to womanhood then looking after babies. the film reminded me of julia stiles in mona lisa smile, but the impact made in this film was so much more heartfelt. and i love the song at the end. haha~ i want to watch it again!!!

oh... and all ronin fans out there, listen up! free ronin accoustic show @ the esplanade at the outdoor chillout stage this coming fri at 8pm! and another huge rock show featuring ronin, electrico and other sg rock bands on feb 4th, 6-10pm at RGS! tix at $10. support local music!

had kendo mock tourney last nite. was pretty interesting, learnt lots of stuff like how to chart the points, announce the names of the competitors, tagging n all. yep yep. loads of coordination required, this ain't a one man's show. at first, it was kinda messy cos most of us were blur cocks who had no idea, or v little, of what was going on. but after a while, you get the hang of it. however, this being just an int tournament, the whole process is much easier than the actual thing is going to be. hope we all dont screw up on the actual day itself. ganbatte everyone!

anw, it was my 1st time in an actual shiai, keikoing w an opponent. the junior gals were the last to compete. 5 of us, me siwei siew suyu n sarah, plus one senior, ting, to complete the erm round robin thingy. anw, me siew n siwei were up against each other. it's funny how b4 the match, u're a bundle of nerves but once u step into the court, it's like the world falls away from u, and all u're aware of is urself, ur opponent, the judge. there's this zenlike feeling of calmness... am i making sense? ahaha~ i guess not. anw, the mock tourney wasnt so bad as we thought it would be, juz went in there n do our best. wasnt expecting to actually go thru to the final round! muz have been really lucky. so was up against ting sempai, n well, i lost, but i didnt feel bad. juz have to try harder! hehe~ and anw, like ting told me, i hold back too much. guess tt's something i have to work on. i dont dare to attack cos i dont know if i shd attack, and as a result, i keep having to defend. if i were up against ppl who knew who to use that against me, i'd prolly be out in 10s flat. im juz lucky. haha~

met some kendoka for a japanese buffet on tues. the place was all the way in bedok! haha~ imagine, travelling from one end of sg to another end juz for sashimi, it had better be good! hehe~ but it was pretty good, nice ambience and all, plus, we got a private room! hehe~ me, sarah, estee, zhen yuan, jesse, guo wei(?), jeremy and clare were there. loads of laughter thanks to king of blurness (and lameness) jeremy, who mistook the waitress asking him if he wanted to refill his cup of tea for asking if he still wanted the ebi(prawn) tails on his plate. -_-" and many other typical "jeremy" moment which i shan't divulge here so as to save his already dwindling reputation. muahaha~ anw, it was a pretty fun affair, and we had loads of sashimi! pity i cant seem to send the pics over to my comp, sigh. will upload when i can. heh~ there were other stuff too, like sushis, tempuras, soft-shell crabs, various kinds of way they make tofu dishes, beef, chicken terriyaki, paper steamboat, hotplates etc etc etc. am i making you guys hungry yet? hehe~ all these for the price of $35(inclusive of gst) is kinda worth it. esp since we were all gorging on sashimi for the entire 3 hrs(o_O) tt we were there. haha~

today, met wenhui n tingren for lunch at westmall. cut my hair, well more like thin it since u cant see a diff, unless u feel it. aha~ then we went to mac, n checked out how bidding's going. nearly died of a heart attack, nus ppl are crazy! one arts gem mod tt i wanted to take, min bid was 400+, another biz gem i found to replace tt was 501 for min! dont even want to talk abt the science gems yah. n so, had to settle for the soci arts gem, to the great pleasure of tr, and so my friday timetable looks like this: 10-12pm: NM Lect, 12-2pm: Soci Gem lect, 2-5pm: Lit Seminar-style class(i.e. lect cum tut at the same time). someone save me!!! haha~ no lunch break some more. sigh.... n my exam timetable is like this: 21st apr, am paper. 25th, am paper. 26th, evening paper. 27th, am paper(HELP!). 28th, pm paper. ah... 26th eve then 27th am, hope i dun tire myself out. plus it's back-to-back. grrr.... hope my cap dun drop. haha~

alrightz, im hooked on full house, the korean romantic comedy. watching it off youtube.com, haha~ the 2 leads are juz so funny, esp when they argue(which is quite often). plus, it's sth different, n yet the same. makes sense? guess not. whaha~ anw, its a guy, actor, n a girl, writer, who meet on a plane. guy has loads of scandals, girl homeless plus penniless thanks to her 2 best frans. so guy bought girl's house w/o knowing it. then blah blah blah until guy comes up w a brilliant plan to "marry" the girl so she can earn back her money(yesh she gets paid juz to b his wife!) to buy back her house. as for him, the marriage could shut up those scandals n make the girl he really likes jealous. n so the story goes. it's funny, perfect for making me chill. hehe~ but well, as w most romantic comedies, the ending is kinda predictable, i guess. hehe~ but the ride is kinda enjoyable. wahaha~

spent new yr's eve watching chronicles of narnia at westmall w fel n germz. caught the midnight show, so we wished each other happy new yr in the cinema. haha~ the movie was great, esp the battle scene, sth refreshingly different seeing animals fight each other. one of the best children's fantansy film ever! definitely comparable w harry potter. haha~
